Our family loves making Fourth of July memories each year. It’s a wonderful time to teach kids lessons of freedom and patriotism while satisfying their deep fascination with things that go Boom!

In Mesa, we’ve snapped pics of our kids with historical figures of freedom and viewed fire trucks in Uncle Sam’s Safety Zone at the Mesa Convention Center while awaiting the fireworks show. In Chandler, we’ve tackled the games and playground equipment at Tumbleweed Park before settling in for the colorful sky display. In Gilbert, we’ve gathered with neighbors to watch the fireworks light up the sky at Central Christian Church while sipping fresh-squeezed lemonade.

The East Valley Mom’s Blog has a full list of East Valley celebrations, with Chandler’s Fireworks Spectacular at Tumbleweed Park topping the list. The blog also includes great information on celebrations in Prescott, Payson, Snowflake/Taylor, Show Low and Heber-Overgaard. The Arizona Office of Tourism lists additional small town celebrations at https://www.visitarizona.com/events/holiday.
