The Chandler Holiday tree shines bright for all to see during the holiday season, and you won't want to miss it!

5 Local Places to Celebrate Winter Fun

It’s a busy time of year, but worth the effort to find time between shopping, parties and cookie baking to explore magical East Valley holiday events. These festivities also provide an opportunity to celebrate with visiting relatives or guests and a reason to get out of the house and enjoy our unbeatable winter weather! See specific websites for updates concerning COVID-19 safety measures.

Here’s a city-by-city rundown of some of our favorite holiday traditions..

1. In Mesa, the  The Mesa Arts Center’ Museum Store has several unique gifts available for online ordering, including an Original Art Print Calendar and a Corinne Geerstsen Jigsaw Puzzle. The Center will not be holding the annual Mesa Arts Festival, but this is the next best thing!

2. Also in Mesa, Vertuccio Farm’s Presents Lights at the Farm, with a Giant Bubble Christmas Tree, Dazzling Lights Tunnel, Barnyard Animals Light Display and more.

Nov. 20-Jan. 8, 5:30 p.m. – 10 p.m. daily. Closed Dec. 24, 25 and 31.

3.  Chandler normally kicks off their holiday season with a unique Tumbleweed Tree Lighting Ceremony. This year’s event has been cancelled, but there is a Tumbleweed Tree Lighting virtually on social media and Channel 11, plus opportunities to take a family photo by the iconic Tumbleweed Tree. See the Holiday event calendar page for festive events.

Dec. 5, 6 p.m. virtually, social media and Channel 11, plus opportunities for your family to take photos by the tree.

4. Enjoy Gilbert’s RiparianPreserve After Dark event  December 11-20. See the preserve come alive with a wonderful holiday glow from hundreds of luminaries reflecting off the lake. This beloved bird-watching spot and nature preserve will be the location to see holiday lights. TICKETS will be SOLD IN 15 MINUTE INCREMENTS to allow for a limited number of patrons in the event area at a time, allowing for physical distancing and a safe experience for all.

2757 E. Guadalupe Rd. in Gilbert.  During the event, the Town of Gilbert will be partnering with a non-profit organization to help collect items to help support their organization. See the link above for suggested donations.

5. In Queen Creek, don’t miss Schnepf Farms’ Winter FUN Down on the FARM, featuring eco-friendly ice skating, bonfires, ping pong, board games and cornhole, Breakfast with Santa, and more. A family farm since the late ‘60s, Mark Schnepf served as the Town of Queen Creek’s first mayor for 11 years.
