Mesa Earns National Recognition … Again and Again

We know Mesa is a great place to live, but lately several national organizations have taken notice as well! The city ranks impressively at the top of the list for each of these categories:

  • Mesa was ranked #6 in the nation of the Top 11 Best Cities to Buy a Family Home by Smart Asset analyzed six different data points: change in home values, change in rent, percentage of housing cost-burdened homeowners, housing costs as a percentage of household income, percentage of homes with at least two bedrooms and average effective property tax rate to award Mesa this national distinction.
  • Mesa ranks #5 in fastest growing job markets and #8 in fastest growing cities in the nation according to CityLab. The organization worked with a team of researchers to analyze the economic performance of American’s 50 largest core or principal cities over the five-year period of 2012 to 2017, using the U.S. Census’s American Community Survey as they determines Mesa as the 5th best job market and 8th fastest growing city in the nation!
  • Mesa is a finalist for the 2019 National Gold Medal Award for Excellence in Park and Recreation Management. The city will be heading to the NRPA Annual Conference in Baltimore, Maryland at the end of the month where the winners will be announced. Fingers crossed the national judges will recognize the vision in our beautiful and thoughtful Mesa parks.

Mesa Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities Director Marc Heirshberg said the honor of being an NRPA finalist is thanks to city management and elected leaders who provide both vision and support.

“Being named a finalist with other outstanding agencies from across the country is quite an honor and a tribute to our dedicated staff who work hard to provide top notch facilities and programs for our residents,” Heirshberg said.
