Make Your Own Skinny Chai

A great Mother’s Day morning treat.
You can make this in the time it takes to drive to the Gourmet Coffee Shop, it’s the best Chai we’ve ever had! It’s much skinnier, non-dairy and you can make a non-caffeinated version too! We promise you won’t miss the calories!

We adapted this recipe from Bon Apetit (BA’s Best Masala Chai) to make a skinnier, non-dairy version. You’ll love it and won’t miss the calories! View the recipe below!

delicious skinny chai to make at home

Ingredients:
1 inch piece of fresh ginger, rough chopped
3 inch stick cinnamon, broken up and slightly crushed with a flat knife
3 ½ cup water
6 black tea bags – you can try non-caffeinated tea as well
1 teaspoon ground cardamom
2 ½ cup vanilla almond milk
¼ cup Skinny Girl Agave/Stevia syrup

Bring ginger, cinnamon, and water to a boil, then simmer about 20 minutes. Add tea bags and cardamom and steep 2 minutes. Remove tea bags. Add almond milk and return to heat, allowing to simmer and whisking vigorously for 4-5 minutes. At the very end, whisk in the agave syrup for about 30 seconds to incorporate well. Strain through a sieve. Serve hot right away, or over ice.
