Community Champion Perry Berry

As a lifelong educator and visionary leader who works tirelessly to strengthen educational opportunities for students in the Queen Creek Unified School District, Superintendent Dr. Perry Berry is a true example of what our communities need in education leadership. For this very reason, the Arizona School Administrators Association has named Berry as the ASA Superintendent of the Year for large school districts.

Each month, Cadence at Gateway recognizes Arizona leaders working to improve the East Valley region in the business, education, government, non-profit and faith-based community. This month, we are proud to recognize QCUSD Superintendent Dr. Perry Berry as our East Valley Community Champion.

Dr. Berry is an innovative leader who is dedicated to serving QCUSD families. QCUSD’s use of cutting-edge technology, sound instructional practices and strategic programs have positioned Dr. Berry’s district as one of the strongest in the state. With nearly 7,000 students, the district is one of the fastest growing districts in Arizona. Six of the district’s eight schools have earned an “A” rating from the Arizona Department of Education.

“I truly believe in continuous district improvement, and the superintendent ensures initiatives and change reflect the specific needs of the students being served,” he told AZED News. “The success of the Queen Creek District is directly linked to our ability to remain focused on student performance, and I am honored to serve so many amazing educators.”

Dr. Berry is also one of four finalists for National Superintendent of the Year, as awarded by the National Association of School Superintendents (NASS).

Dr. Berry, always an incredible student advocate, served as the district’s assistant superintendent and director of curriculum prior to assuming superintendent duties. He says he sees today’s superintendent as a leader who can have a positive impact on the advancement of student opportunity. Berry is committed to maintaining transparency and strong public relations with all stakeholders through the use of social media and video.

We congratulate Dr. Berry on his ASA award and thank him for being a Cadence Community Champion as he continues to establish the solid foundation upon which QCUSD students and staff can learn and grow.
