Features Athletics, Fine Arts and Rigorous Academics What an exciting time for the Cadence community! A brand-new school, Eastmark High School, will officially open in July. Students from seventh through tenth grade will have the opportunity to attend a brand new, state-of-the-art campus, located on 60 acres of land. Signal Butte Road in Mesa for more information. Principal Paul Gagnon, future principal of Eastmark High shared that, “The future for students who attend Eastmark High School is bright. Students will have the opportunity to become well-rounded individuals through athletics, academics, and fine arts opportunities at our school as well as the interactions they have with their peers. Our model is that of a comprehensive high school with career path academies. Through the academy model, the experiences they have here at Eastmark High will help them acquire the tools needed to be successful in whichever career pathway they choose as they move beyond our classrooms, sports fields and performance halls.” Athletics Brand new gyms and fields have been constructed to be home to the new Eastmark Firebird athletic teams. The athletic programs were created for students to develop positive characteristics that will benefit them throughout their entire life.       Seventh and eighth graders will compete in the East Valley Conference, the same conference as Queen Creek and Newell Barney Middle Schools who compete with students from Chandler and Higley school districts. The athletics offered for these grades include flag football, girls/boys volleyball, baseball, cheerleading and pom, cross country, girls/boys basketball, softball, girls/boys soccer, wrestling and track and field. Ninth- and tenth-grade sports are organized through the Arizona Interscholastic Association and Eastmark’s competitive sports division is still being decided. Students will have the opportunity to play on Freshmen/Sophomore and Junior Varsity teams participating in the same athletic teams at other area comprehensive high schools such as cross country, football, golf, spirit line, swimming/dive, tennis, volleyball, basketball, soccer, wrestling, baseball, softball and track.   Fine Arts All students at Eastmark High School will have the opportunity to participate in an excelling fine art programs that will offer choir, orchestra, band, guitar, dramatic arts as well as visual arts such as ceramics and painting. Students attending Eastmark will be able to partake in classes that tailor to their future career paths, no matter their interests. In the near future a fully-functioning performing arts center will reside on campus providing opportunities for both students and the community. Eastmark High School will provide a wide variety of opportunities to all students. “A”-rated academics will be offered, as well as Career Path Academies-focused courses allowing students to prepare for college and future careers at an early age. Our academies include STEM, MASH (medical), FAME (fine arts and media) and BLIS (business). Eastmark High School will have a variety of Advanced Placement (AP) and Dual Enrollment classes for advanced academic offerings. Queen Creek Unified Schools have received “A” rankings from the Arizona Department of Education and received top district ratings from GreatSchools.org. In addition to the “A”-rated academics and Career Path Academies, students will be able to participate in top-notch athletics and fine arts.
