Silver Valley Elementary School, nestled in the Cadence at Gateway community, will be open July 2019! The Queen Creek Unified School District’s newest elementary school, serving preschool through sixth grade, continues to take registrations the next few months.
Opening On Time and On Budget! While some outdoor landscaping may continue to be installed after classes begin, construction remains on schedule to have all the classrooms and teaching spaces complete by July.
Under the leadership of experienced Queen Creek Schools educator, Principal Allison Carmichael, the school will offer preschool, free all-day kindergarten, plus before- and after-school enrichment classes.
“We are thrilled to welcome students to our beautiful new Silver Valley Elementary School this summer,” shared Principal Carmichael. “This is an important opportunity for children to learn in collaborative, modern, creative spaces that will allow them to grow both academically and personally as we focus on their overall wellness and growth. These facilities are truly state of the art, and reflect the high caliber of teaching and learning that will occur at Silver Valley.”
The school will be open beginning July 2019 and feature technology-rich, collaborative learning spaces in the 89,000-square-foot school. Multiple buildings frame a central courtyard, extending learning and gathering opportunities to the outdoors. Large garage doors open to make room for large group activities, dining, assemblies, and events in the courtyard.
The top-rate facilities include:
- Wet Lab Makerspace
- SMART Lab, Library and Media Center
- Cafeteria/Commons area
- Gymnasium/Performance space
- Music and Band rooms
- Playground and Athletic Fields
Students will have regular exposure to STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics), which develops both problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. Part of this will occur via a program called a SMART Lab. The SMART Lab takes students through various STEAM curriculums interacting with both manipulatives and computer programming for a rich and engaging experience. The end results are individuals who take thoughtful risks, engage in experiential learning, persist in problem-solving, embrace collaboration, and work through the creative process. The process provides authentic preparation for the real world through simulating real-world challenges.
